Back I know exactly what you mean. And I think that problem, and a few others, could be solved with a "Forced Refresh" button. Something that would make tS empty out its memory (removing stray data and screen fragments) and re-draw the scene from scratch (obviously without having to save, open a new scene, reload, etc., etc...)
