Back Quick answer to Q3 is a transparency shader that varies transparency with angle of view - my Glow shaders do that, free, but you need ShaderLab to use them: http://www.tmgcgart.com/ShaderLab/html/shader_listing_5.htm#TGGlow
There may be others out there, I think Simbiont has something that does the same sort of thing.
Can't reproduce the problem in Q1 - btw, some things to check, is the Image shader still the Background Effect Shader on loading your scene? What is the image being replaced by on reloading? Is this an animated scene or a static?
Not sure about what effect you are looking for in Q2 - simply moving and turning the camera and recording the keyframes would do the trick - or if you want it to look at particular objects, you could keyframe the Look At parameter for the camera (so you would just move it as you want it to move, and then go to the relevant frames in the animation and set the new Look At for that frame).
Hope something here helps!

Hello, I am attempting using TS 6.6 Service Pack 2. I have set-up a scene and added a .jpg as a background. After saving or reopening a saved file and rendering, the background keeps disappearing or being removed. Is there a step I am missing? I am adding the background by right click on the Background effect shader - image, then double clicking the image then saving the file. If I render right when I add the .jpg everything is OK.
Question 2: I am having trouble animating a camera. I want to move the camera in on the scene then rotate to the back "looking at" different objects as it rotates to the back of the scene. Would someone suggest how to do this or have a tutorial on this?
Question 3: How do you render an object so it is transparent or it's opacity is such that you can see through it to view the internals but still have the outline of the object? (Like drawing a pump and you can see through the casing and see the internal impeller).
TIA
