New Computer, New Results! - Entering The Land of the Living... :)

Hi Gang,

Well, they're finally here.  My new Opteron 242 twins. :)  Right now I
am dealing with some "burping" problems with power issues in the room;
it's seems as though the new server case draws so much power that I
have to isolate it on one circuit.  But I almost have things sorted
out (naughty kids!).

However, one of the first things I did (that is to say, after I
transfered some of my files over) was to perform the ball pyramid
test.  Well, my ol' P4 1.7G machine performed it at 22:23.  But the
twins performed it at 4:47!  So you can guess that this new mommy is
really happy.  :)  I even did a render that took 2 seconds!  I never
heard of that before.  A whole new world is dawning. :)

My thanks to everyone and their coveted advice over the past few
months as I was making my decision.

Now I have to get back to transfering files.  I currently do not have
a network going but hopefully will have one within the next few weeks
or so.  So back to the ol' oven to burn some more discs. :)

[Oh, btw, I may be off-line for long periods of time now-and-then as I
transfer things over because I can't run both machines at the same
time right now but hopefully this will be resolved in a few days as
well. ]

Cheers.

Claudia
