Re: Chat Room? 2004-07-27 - By ccoles_avengers
Back Yeah, I know what you mean. I dropped by as soon as Dan posted to the list and I couldn't find him in there, either.
Dan, don't you feel like the proverbial hamster in the wheel...you scoot over to the list and tell everyone to come by for a chat, but while you're logged out, people come by and don't find you (or anyone else), and subsequently log out. Then you log back in, don't see anyone, log out and post another chat "cattle call" to the list, but while you are logged out, people come over due to the first post, and find it empty, and log out, just as you are logging back in from sending another post...and around and around we go! :)
I'm kind of an old newbie at chat after a 10 year hiatus from being active on IRC via UNIX shell and I am trying to make these Windows IRC apps work for me. I think my approach will be to log on and if the IRC app (I am currently using mIRC trial version) has a sound announcement feature for when people join in, I will stay logged in for a bit until I hear someone log in. That may be one way of staying in touch with the chat room while doing other work online. I just hope my theory works. :)
Cheers and hope to type at you and others tonight or tomorrow night sometime.
