I concur.  Even if they didn't create new features for the next
release but instead really solidified some of the quirky but
important ones, I'd buy the upgrade.

Here's my $0.02-worth on the primary features they should improve:

1.  Modeling capabilities (still too quirky/unintuitive and Amapi is
just plain awkwardl; I use Rhino for all my modeling and then import
to Carrara)

2.  Motion path, PLEASE (I suggest allowing you to create a separate
curve and then attach the object to it as in 3D Studio Max.  The
bezier curve/handle editor tool is very difficult to manage and I get
a lot of track "twisting" that makes the models do funny, unexpected
corkscrews)

3.  Free particle emitters, DOUBLE PLEASE (The bound emitter works
semi-fast, but even a low number of particles in a free emitter will
bring the program to its knees.  My guess is it needs an algorithm
simplification.  Max and Maya never seem to have this problem even
with semi-large numbers of particles.)

4.  Fix the fire bug - i.e. the one that causes it to disappear or be
cropped when sky is behind it, or causes funny reflection-like
patterns to spread across the screen.

If we could ask for one new feature, I'd personally ask for space
warps/force fields (call them what you will) that can deflect or
otherwise re-direct particles as in Max or Maya.

I hope they listen, too.  I think Carrara is an absolutely awesome
animation tool for the price, and I still rely heavily on it when
teaching other people animation because of its good interface, built-
in presets, and overall simplification that gets people up and
running within a fraction of the time it takes them to use Max or
Maya.
