Re: CADstyle Pricing information clear up 2004-06-30 - By Andrew
Back That does clear-up a bit of the pricing "hatred" for the new product. Truthfully, I've never heard of those file formats (and their respective products) until the release of CAD Style.
So, it does make since to charge "an arm and a leg" to support a product that also costs that and more.
One has to wonder how many people will actually buy this product, through. I guess it's enough to warrant the release of the pluggin, but it sounds like it's a frightfully narrow market (or the first move to overtake an existing market, it depends on how they market it).
On the other side of the topic, Transposer suppositively can import animations too. There are very few products that will import another program's animation. 3DS, obj, and many other importable file formats simply hold still objects. Their respective native programs use a propreitary format that holds animations, special effects, and things like that. These things don't usually get beyond their own program. So, $130 for this pluggin doesn't seem to be too bad.
Personally, I would create my own human models. But that is the mentality that I was programmed with at animation school. Now, if this pluggin was for AM, then maybe my interests would spark up considerably. :-)
