July Submission:

Well, it's that time of the month again where I start getting worried that
we have to put out another issue... Don't forget that the standard
submission amount as been raised to $50.00 (see above URL) and you can now
actually afford a book at amazon.com!

Please consider contributing and make somebody's day... Here is a just one
of the recent letters we received. It is from Peter Mamatey and it shows how
much we all appreciate the hard work (in this case it's Jack Whitney's).

---begin letter to the editor---

Carl,
I dont know if you have a forum for Letters to the Editor in 3dXtract but
I'm writing one anyway to praise one of the tutorials.
The tutorial on Carrara 3's new UV editor by Jack Whitney (May '04) was a
major breakthrough for me. I have long wondered how to get texture maps to
line up right with objects and didnt really get it with the new UV editor
until I read Whitney's deceptively short and simple article. I'm now able to
get the door seam bump map on a car I'm working on to line up perfectly with
the body. Also I was able to map the flames paint job just right on the
hood. Kudos to Mr. Whitney and 3dxtract for improving my world. I can
honestly say your ezine has actually made a difference.
I haven't finished the car yet (it's a long-term project) but I'm
submitting a couple of other images I've done in hopes of making a small
repayment to 3dxtract for its usefulness. I dont have any tutorials, but
will keep it in mind for future issues.

Thanks again, you can tell your wife that your life is no longer one long
exercise of futility.
Peter

Well, my wife still thinks it's all for nothing, but I love her anyway ;)

Again, thank you all for being a part of 3dXtract.
Happy Rendering!
