Back Thanks for posting this (with later caveat to skip point 5), Claudia. This had me stumped for a while until I recently discovered this quick and dirty workaround.
I've been using the xz track tool to pull the camera back until the object is a reasonable size, then zoom back into it with Ctrl/Comnd-Z. I sometimes "select all" first to make it more visable.

After posting my message I hacked around some more in the VM and found some steps that seemed to work:
1) I selected the Object 2) Then in View, I used "Send Working Box to Selection". 3) Then I selected "Auto-Resize Working Box" 4) The I selected "Reset Working Box"
A lot of hoops to jump through, but at least it allowed the object to be brought to the working box at a reasonable size.
I hope, however, that a more straightforward way of doing this will be included in CS4.
