there is a little program there called detriang which, well, detriang's... I tried it on some triangulated primitives and it worked perfectly. How well it works on more complex models I dont know.
there is another cool little program there called readobj, which does just that and only that. If you dont have something like uvmapper it may come in handy for quick viewing.
