If your finished products are images, you can create them however you want. The
client won't care as long as the result is good.

I have used CS2 and 3 a lot to render Pro/E models of products because models
don't
exist yet to be photographed for packaging. Making a real photo model takes
weeks,
costs thousands of $ and then it still needs to be photographed and cleaned up.
Converting a Pro/E model, applying materials, lighting, and rendering can be
completed in a day, and you can easily try color variations.

You can see some of those renders in your local Walmart, Target, Home Depot,...
