Car Edges problems 2004-02-22 - By David Bell
Back Hi there,
Newbie's are welcome here.
I will take at your specific problems when I take my next break (I am finishing up a project that is due Monday).
In the meantime let me share a couple of basic ideas that you may find useful.
1. It is easy to make sharp clean edges in a 3D package like Carrara ... there are no sharp clean edges in nature. All edges are beveled, broken, or rough and send an image different than surfaces ... and our brain is very sensitive to these things ... always plan on beveling edges.
2. One of the things we do in Carrara is to loft (in fact you could argue that all 3D work is lofting of one sort or another) Lofting is a technique that dates back to the beginning of boat and sail making. It is a technique for drawing long sweeping lines that look good and work well with nature .... so it is worth looking up the basics of lofting and understand what those who came before learned (and preserved) for us to build on.
More later (I hope)
Yours, David
