The way I would generate a mask for the window would be to make a separate rendering pass with no lights, and the window material set to bright white in the glow channel.
I use Carrara and AfterEffects regularly with this technique. I have also used the DVMattePro plugin to create the matte - I do this if there are reflections from the Carrara scene that I want to preserve.
