trueParticles do not collide with themselves and it cannot be enabled. This is because with most trueParticle emitter settings the particles are created already self intersecting which is a no-no for the physical simulation calculations. The only way to get the particles to work in physical simulation was to make then non self-colliding but allow them to intersect each other.
