Are you sure you have it set to render a bitmap and not an avi? It
sounds like it's trying to render a number of scenes. Before you start
the render, make sure it's set for current frame and not movie (you'll
find that under the output tab). Also, unless you have a dual system (I
think that's right) it doesn't make sense to have it set for multi
threading, so you might want to remove that check mark. If you don't
have multi threading capabilities and that remains checked, it'll
actually slow down the render. (That's found under the Rendering tab).
