Lathe and standalone deformation 2004-05-17 - By Anthony Ware
Back Michael,
Can you clarify this for me, please?
If you create a curve, then select the lathe tool, tS automatically converts the curve to a polyhedron as it activates the lathe tool with no dialogue to show it has done so. You are actually lathing a face whether you know it or not.
If you create a curve, extrude or rail it (tS has no loft tool) and then attempt to lathe an edge, tS will pop up a dialogue saying "This object contains NURBS patch(es). Do you want to convert it to a polyhedron?". Of course if you have Auto Conv(ert) selected in the tS preferences, this dialogue skipped and the NURB automatically converted back to polys. Once again, you are back to lathing a face.
Am I missing something?
Anthony
