what flavour of osX are you using?
do you turn your machine off at night?

i just posted a couple maintence things we mac users should take into
consideration
and no, mac osX is not rock solid[crash proof]..imho...

lightwave is very wonky on panther[known issues]
i've seen carrara act a bit stiff on panther, but no hard crash[yet]
i've seen strata act weird on it too.
watch what you install,
 repair permissions after EVERY install,
 either leave the machine on, so it can perform self maintenence,
or use some thing like mac janitor.
fsck -y or fsck -f at start up[command+s keys] let it run, then  reboot
if all is fine/re-run if repairs happen.
