Ah, an easy one I can actually answer!  LOL  In the right hand pull out
properties box, and under the general tab, you'll see the name of
whatever object you have selected.  Just highlight that name with your
mouse, and type the new name you want.  That'll change it's name over in
the bottom pull up tray too.
