Hi Petteri :)

Yeah, I could really use a bones tutorial in regards to humanoid
figures, seems to be precious little about them, the manual is
sparse, and almost nothing on the net about them either. I guess not
many have tried to push the bones much in Carrara that way, or if
they have, they don't say anything about it. I picked up Mike de la
Flor's book at Amazon in the hopes it illuminates that mystery for me
a bit more... just waiting for it to arrive now. I get tearing at the
joints, I have to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks for the compliment on my gemstone renders... I just know I can
do so much more with this program besides pretty renders though...
argh. :) I love how it renders, I can't render the jewelry models in
Poser at all (Poser smoothing stomps all over everything, and I hate
to split vertices on a model, not to mention the refraction is
broken, no caustics etc), so I really want to get the bones working
for me. I really want to cut down on the number of applications I
have to use... sometimes I get a scene into Carrara only to realise I
should have done something different in Poser, and its tedious to go
back and change it all over again...

Hope they get the weightpainting thing implemented... that's good
news they have it in the SDK. I remember reading they would be
working on more character animation for the next release a while back
during the C3 beta, but I haven't heard much since then.

yes, I noticed that facial animation can be done somewhat with bones
though, in the same way the muscles are done, but its going to be
complicated. I've yet to see anyone do believable facial animation in
Carrara yet. Going to try though. lol... wish me luck.

take care, Robin
