Lathe and standalone deformation 2004-05-14 - By Anthony Ware
Back Emmanuel,
No, you can't. The lathe tool is only applicable to faces - not vertices, edges or whole objects. Only deform primitives can be used as standalone deformation objects as they are a special case object to tS and unlike regular primitives.
I'd use a standalone deformation pipe, increase the lattice resolution then edit the cross sections into shape and position. It will still be tricky to make a path for the deformed object to follow the deform object, though.
If you didn't need a deformation object, a useful 'shell' generator would be to download spiralizer from here: http://www.armanisoft.ch/webdesign/FrmDownloads.html
