I just came across a really cool free texture creation program. It is
simple to use and pretty powerful for a free application. You can
create all kinda interesting effects with perlin noise and pattern
functions, plus alpha effects. Also you can preview your texture in
real time 3d on pregenerated cube, cylinder, or sphere. Check it out
