Brick/Tile shader

Here is a good tutorial on how to do a brick texture (if you have the bandwidth
, it is a highly compressed QuickTime file). You will need to sign up for a free
membership. Not to worry, the folks at DVGarage are good people, I work with
them almost every day.

It's also covers some good general techniques too. There are good tutorials
here.

You find the link to the Bricks tutorial at the bottom of this page http:/
/dvgarage.com/garage/break/lab/lab.php

This is a different approach than you are using, and is worth examining.

final note, this is a general tutorial not aimed at Carrara in specific.

Yours,
David

Probably the easiest way is to add noise (for the bump channel, and possibly
the color map) where the edges meet in a program like Photoshop.

Is there a way to rough up the edges of the brick or tile shaders, to create
 a more
irregular edge between stone and mortar?
