Superbowl mayhem

greetings,

just a report from houston texas (where i live) and where superbowl
38 is happening in just a few hours.

houston is the 3rd (or 4th) largest city in the US, since friday it
has become superbowl central. every celebrity you can imagine is
here, roaming the downtown area going from party to party. the
largest celebrity party outside of the Oscars happened at a secret
location Friday night.

i told my wife yesterday that hollywood and new york must have
tumbleweeds rolling around 'cause all the movie, music and sports
stars are here.

i live 5 miles from reliant stadium, and i could not get there if i
tried to walk there. most of the streets are closed and everything
costs alot of money. if you have a spare $1700 per ticket (for the
nosebleeds) then you too can go to the superbowl.

it is bizarre to watch all of the CBS pregame shows on TV and see the
houston landmarks in the background. just a little while ago, adam
sandler, drew barrymore, and a bunch of other pop stars where on
stage outside reliant stadium. its ood to think they were just a few
miles away.

for those of you old enough to remember when the superbowl was just
another football game this experience is truly bizarre. just a a bit
of history... reliant stadium was just completed about a few months
ago and towers over the once spectacular Astrodome.

and this is the second superbowl played in houston. superbowl 8 was
played in rice stadium in downtown houston, in 1974. the dolphins
beat the vikings 24-7.
