I concur re: the DIVX codec for your final video output and MP3 codec
for audio production work, if you have a sound editor that will
support it.

I am an online (as well as offline) AVID editor and "back-dooring" it
into the world of 3D myself, although I have been doing 2D EFX for
some time on NLE as well as linear systems.  So we are actually
heading in reverse directions :).

So far, I have been impressed with the DIVX codec quality for web
viewing.  IMHO, it beats Real Media hands down, and the payload is
light.  Quicktime would be another option as far as quality, although
it's payload is a bit steeper.

I have recently obtained a DVD-burner (...I'm still in the world of
Betacam SP for video mastering...) so I am still learning about what
formats/codecs are best for DVD quality.  Perhaps someone else will
have a better opinion on what a better format and codec is for
mastering onto a DVD.

Cheers.
