Curve snapping? 2003-12-01 - By matt@(protected)
Back > Take a dead chicken, swing it around your head three times. Select the > CV you want to snap and using the middle mouse click and drag > on the curve you want to snap to. It should work. If it does not work > try more chickens.
Other things to watch for (besides chicken by-products):
-Make sure you only have curve snap active and not point/grid snap. -I've found sometimes it works better if your transform tool is set to worldspace rather than object or local. -Make sure you've not shift-clicked a translate axis to limit movement to a plane. -Try in a 2 stage process; left-click to select your object and 'twizzle' it a bit in that mode; then middle click-drag on the curve you're snapping to, dragging back and forth in the direction of the curve -Snap from a different viewport, or tumble the persp camera around a little, some views work better than others -If you're point/object is miles away from the curve, eyeballing it to sit closer can help maya along sometimes -It could just be you. A former co-worker of mine could curve-snap all day, whistling a happy tune, while I would struggle, covering my screen with spittle and expletives. Maybe you should just accept that curve snap doesn't like you, and move on. :)
