Back Roman, Marcel's work also reminds me of the Cathedral (nominated for best animated short film last year at the Oscars). Catch it here at: http://www.platige.com/katedra/eng_/strona_glowna.html <http://www.platige.com/katedra/eng_/strona_glowna.html> That is why I thought so highly of it. But in this discussion, let us not overlook the tremendous work of Mike Embleton and Bill Mitchell....both tremendous works with great lighting, texturing, modelling, composition...I could go on and on. The inspiration that is provided by all the gallery artists never ends....you have a tough job indeed selecting winners. Dave Angelini -- -- Original Message -- --

Dave, These are good comments, I like Marcel's statue a lot, in only is on the bottom of the page because of its vertical format. Marcel is an artist who is improving very rapidly. Likewise SouthPark is outstanding I had to think long before deciding on the winner. In the end I chose Race Macabre because of its originality. BTW I judge the images and animation blind i.e. I never see the names. Of course some artists (like Mikko) have very distinct, easyli recognizable style. My criteria are subjective, but simple. I pick 12 or so best images regardless of author, so this month Mike Embletton has 4 entries in Gallery. Roman

I can understand why it took a bit longer to post the results for April's gallery as there is some really outstanding stuff this month. With all due respect to the winners, my personal favorites tend to be Marcel's Barthel's statue. Very intricate modelling work on the statue combine with great lighting. In the animation department, "South Park Reloaded" is just too funny. Very well done with a dead-on match to the pacing and style that belongs uniquely to the Matrix....I can only imagine they had the movie trailer loaded into the background during animation. Destine to be a classic on the internet and I am still chuckling over it. Thanks, Dave Angelini
