Back After reading this message, I downloaded a demo of Illustrate. When I brought in a 3d character and rendered it, it actually looked worse than Carrara's Toon render. Illustrate is pretty complex and requires a lot of tweaking I guess.
Toon in Carrara is pretty good though. The only problem I have with it is the lack of control I have over where it puts the lines, and the lack of multiple line weights.
I personally would like to see a new shader channel that works only with toon that allows the user to draw in where the lines are supposed to go and how the thick lines are supposed to be.
