Thanks for the info about DIVX. And whenever you get the chance, I would appreciate any info on the DIVX encoding software that you are using to generate your AVIs. I've been looking for a way to do just that with my AVIs: generate clips with small file sizes but have them maintain good quality.
Candleman looks like a real interesting project...please continue to send your updated links to the list. :)
