I just attended the first class of my 3D model rendering course for
this Spring (NOVA-Loudoun) and guess what we are using as the main 3D
software package?  You got it, Carrara :).  That is one of the main
reasons why I signed up for the course.  Unfortunately it is still the
CS1.1 version, but at least it is a Carrara suite.  I would probably
have had to think twice about taking the class if they were teaching
it in some other package.  I can already tell that it will be somewhat
of a review, but I have already picked up a new tip from the first day
(actually evening) of class.

I have also read that the NOVA-Alexandria campus also is using Carrara
in its 3D courses, so it is slowly seeing the light of day and
hopefully will catch on at other colleges and universities.
