subdivide+edge selection 2004-01-23 - By debadger
Back Years ago, learning 3d in Autocad and in the process learning how to build aircraft galleys I learned that a triangle is ALWAYS flat. A quadrangle can be twisted out of flat but a triangle never is, which in a 3D app like Carrara (and I'd bet any other) that is using polygons it will get confused with quadrangles. Those are your source of a lot of problems with booleans, I bet.

i'd like to hear and learn more about this as well. is C3 able to generate quads, instead of triangular polys? the quads i've seen are bi~sected by an edge[essentially making them two tris, with a common baseline]...right?...i'm not the keenest modeller, i guess you can delete that common baseling and get a quad after, seems tedious...is there a better way to do this?
also, i've noticed, some inherent workflow problems[?] in the VM. [having used other apps], if, say i have edge selection enabled; i cannot marquis select edges..they have to be selected one by one?? i hope i'm missing some 'step' or preference toleration or something.
