Encouragement like that keeps me trying ;-)
The light beams do move, but only after the UFO completes the turn. In the
movie they move as the UFO is in the middle of the turn (I have the
Collectors Edition on DVD). That is one of the areas that I will be
changing as I improve the ships motion.
This will be part of a longer animation that will mimic the scene in the
movie (hopefully) pretty closely. If you recall, the UFO's stop to inspect
a billboard at the end of the road. Steven Speilburg originally wanted it
to be a billboard for some food product that had the tag line "It's Out of
this World" but couldn't get the rights to use it. So instead he used a
McDonalds sign that just had the tag line "Take your next right". If you
notice in the film, before the UFO departs, it has a little red light on the
right start blinking.....that was its turn signal.
Any recommendations of what people want to see on the Billboard?

P.S. In other film trivia....if you watch the end of "Monsters, Inc" where
Boo is showing Sully her room, she picks up all these toys on the floor and
hands them to him. One is the ball from Luxo, Jr (which pretty much makes
and appearance in every Pixar film). But more interestingly, she picks up a
toy fish. This toy is an orange clown fish with three white stipes.
Yes....it was Marlin from (at the time) the yet to be released "Finding
Nemo".
