How to map tiles accurately?

How to map tiles accurately?

Hi,

I'm a new Carrara user, and I have a question which I hope can be
answered simply. I'm modeling a room with tiled walls, and I want to
be able to control the size of the tiles somewhat accurately. When I
use the procedural tile shader, I can only control the "number" of
tiles on the H and V axes, when I really want to be able to specify
the size of each tile (4 inches, for instance).

Even when I get the "number of tiles" approach to work, I run into
difficulty when I apply the texture to more than one wall. Since the
walls are of different sizes, the tiles end up being differently sized
on each wall! This is obviously not the way to go.

I have taken baby steps into the world of the UV editor, and that
seems promising, but as I understand it is a new feature in version 3,
I wonder how and whether people solved this problem in the past.

Thanks in advance!

- Joe
