Re: Carrara Forum 2003-12-28 - By Carl Desmond
Back You are absolutely correct! It is a model for what 3dXtract is attempting. The reason that the PDF format came about initially was my past experience with a magazine and the thoughts I had to produce it online. The ideas for file sharing (models, textures, formulas etc...), user galleries, forums, challenges etc... Are all related to stratacafe.. These are not new ideas for a user community and I always wondered why nobody was doing it, so I started down the path. There is room for improvement and modifications based on what we do as Carrara and Amapi users, so suggestions are still needed/wanted of course.
The plan is not a complete secret, but partner products, textures and models, plug-ins, books, tutorial CDs... Etc. are all part of the scope of what 3dXtract will be offering in the near future. With specials/freebies for registered users! And no, we won't be selling mugs, but we might give a few away :) I have already started to develop some materials with others to have an offering worth purchasing.
I can't stress m3d242's point as much as it has been already... Having the "scattershot" sites out there does little for our community. 3dXtract was created to fill those gaps created already by those with "good intensions" who already put up sites that the search engines still call up that don't exist. Again, if you would like to get involved, I am always open to it. Full credit is always given and it is encouraged to "toot your own horn" as much as possible. :) Please don't hesitate to contact me directly if you wish to participate.
