That program (Curvy 3D) looks really interesting. Looks like the polycount might be quite high, though? I see it can export as 3ds, so could be brought into Carrara for rendering. Judging by a quick glance, anyone used to working with the Bryce terrain editor would find it easy enough to master. Definitely worth investigating more.
