Back Good point but don't forget that they also dumped Painter and Bryce which also had some of the strongest name recognition in their respective categories. I learned never to under estimated the dumb moves Metacreation was capable of.

PS Having been with RayDream back around version 1 or 2 and having been with it through all the companies that have owned it, I have to say that Eovia seems to have their act together. Updates are coming out at regular intervals and what Eovia is releasing is pretty solid from a bug stand point. Their are still a number of areas that need to be corrected but once these guys attack an area the results are very good. For this reason I really believe Carrara has a bright future and I'm looking forward to version 4 with the animation fixes. I'm also hoping they tackle the particle system. -- --Original Message-- -- From: pmiinalainen [mailto:petteri.miinalainen@(protected)] Sent: Tuesday, December 16, 2003 1:41 AM To: Carrara@(protected) Subject: [Carrara] Re: how many users for carara?
I think that number comes from days when there were really not that much 3d programs available for personal computers.
If ray dream had 50% of ALL 3D users, why did metacreations gave it up? Dumped the name? Went belly up? Honestly, that would mean that would have been the most recognized 3d brand in the world.... I think, it had to be something like 50 % of 3D users on personal computers. Or 50% of 3D users on Mac. Or something like that. Otherwise, it really doesn't make any sense.
