Every forum or graphics site I go to has a forum for Carrara and Raydream. One even has the name as CarraraRayDream. Sheesh. I realize that in the day it was very popular and for the times it was a great program. But it's dead, Jim. It would be very nice to do a search for Carrara information and not have to slog though dozens of RayDream pages that has no useful info when it comes to Carrara, at least for me. Until the shadow of RayDream is gone, Carrara won't be able to stand on its own.
I couldn't agree more. I'm going to guess that the CarraraRayDream forum you speak of is the one at Renderosity. That always drives me nuts. Stranger still, if they going to keep that up how come it's always Carrara/RayDream and NEVER Carrara/Infini-D or Carrara/RayDream/Infini-D. I mean, it is supposed to be the successor of both of them, right? People let Infini-D go a looooooog time ago. It's time to do the same with RayDream. It's been dead just as long.
I know the real reason is because Carrara really isn't the successor of Infini-D, just it's replacement. Anyone who's used both knows that C in no way (other then the particle system and the lens flares) resembles ID. Since Meta had bought both RD and ID and then killed them to make C, saying it was the successor to both probabaly seemed like a good way to apease former users of both and get everyone to plunk their money down on C.
