Back The problem with Maya, is that it is very expensive to train new talent and on any project only 10-20% of its features are used.

And it was always that maya was dominant in FX scene. SoftImage ruled for years and was the soft you needed to know if you wanted job in hollywood. Alias |Wavefront had good programs, but they weren't so widely used. Then Alias developed maya to replace older products, and BOOM! It was a hit and has been growing hugely.
They did their work well. They listened to users and provided flexible tools for their tasks. And released a product that had features that other could only dream about... Product can be highly priced if it offers you enough value for your money. And if you can skim the cream with premium priced products, you will have a healthy company.
