It may be unnecessary for you, but for me it's a life saver.  LOL  I
HATE working with layers, and only do it when I've modeled something in
the vertex modeler and have different parts of it I want to shade.

So, to find a program that removes the layers and puts them back like
they belong (in my opinion) is great.  It's probably because I started
out with Bryce, and as you know Bryce doesn't do it it layers.  I never
felt the need for Grouper very strongly when I used Bryce.  (Except that
I do like the fact it groups - therefore simplifies - the model.

I downloaded Babel, but I'm not sure I'm getting the point of it and how
it works with Grouper.  I brought up a PZ3 file in Babel and I "copied"
the maps.  I don't quite see how that meshes with Grouper?  I must be
missing some key factor here.  But it's late and my brain is half
asleep, so I'll check it out again tomorrow.

The main thing I'm seeing is that Babel is telling me where each of the
texture maps can be found on my hard drive.  Most of the time, I find
them pretty quick.  I say most of the time.  Once in awhile, it's a real
hassle.  LOL
