Re: we should not need to buy another program to import poser figures 2003-12-12 - By bijou
Back Exactly David.
For some of us its a commercial necessity. For those of you that its not... great. But Carrara doesn't have a full set of character tools like Poser. And Maya costs a LOT of money!
And for crying out loud... you can build your own models in any modeller (including, yes... Carrara!) and rig them for Poser so that you can animate them. I've done that. So the use of Poser isn't wrong... perhaps what some people here really mean is using bought content instead of making it yourself is wrong. But then the question remains... selling content has been going on a long time, for high end applications like Max for use in 3d games and the like. Poser just brought it down to a lower pricetag, to a consumer level... which I have to say is NOT a bad thing! Its why Carrara exists too, it brought high end features to a consumer price!
Go hang on Turbosquid to witness the kinds of prices that used to be paid.
And once Zmorphics has a plugin, I'll be one of the first with bells on my toes looking for it. Perhaps the first thing I should do is animate a fricken aquarium full of Poser fish so you can understand that its not just for naked chicks. Sheesh... and I thought I had my mind in the gutter.
take care, Robin
