Back gezz I am just brain dead tonight. a .max = a .scn not a .cob ? RH has a .max plug but I was told ya still needed the 3D App Max for it all to work. Never did get why ya would need RH if ya had Max. "I thought a null was a particular type of object (an object with no geometry), used as a placeholder for various things." Yes, that's correct.C4D really likes to name every thing and keep everything in a hierarchy ya can use it to organize ya mesh in to little sections, with deferent names.same as glue meshes togeather and name them in object info box in TS. ya use nulls for robotic animation rigs with out bones to.same as attach object to bone in TS just with out the bones but same result. Thanks for the education. I asked on the Max form but haven't goten a response. reckon they don't like talken to strangers. If you have it, you can use Right Hemisphere's conversion utility (or something like Polytrans) and convert it that way. Other than a fairly high level conversion utility, there isn't any other way that I could find.
