Back --- In Carrara@(protected), "jon_shacklock" I got there in the end with Mark's vertex method. Thanks Mark, I would never have thought of starting a key cap from a cylinder but it worked much better than starting from a rounded rectangle.
I made a couple of small but significant breakthroughs today thanks to this forum.
