Yes- play with the extrusion methods to start.

Spline- make three sections. Section 1, base of the key- draw a
square using the pen tool. Make each corner rounded with convert
point if you need to. Select the whole shape and copy to the next
Section, the top edge of the key. Shrink it down a bit to get the
taper. Copy it to the next section, and shrink it down to a leetle
teeny dot. Now go to the purply-pink line on the back (or bottom) of
the working box, and select the point that represents the third
section. Drag it back so that it is before the dot representing the
second cross section.

Voila! A pretty cheesy keycap. ;-)

Vertex- you are almost there- just start with a cylinder instead of a
cube. make a small cylinder with 8 sides- then (from the top) select
the right hand 4 vertices and move them out to the right. Then de-
select, and grab the bottom 4 vertices and drag them down an equal
amount. You should now have a cube with rounded corners. Continue asa
you did above.
