Back OK, lets say (for this example) you want to use one sphere to subtract a section from another sphere.
1. In vertex modeler insert a sphere. We'll call it sphere A (a section will be removed from this one)
2. Insert a second sphere. This will be sphere B (we will use this one to do the subtraction)
3. Overlap the spheres so that B intersects with A.
4. Completely select both spheres (use Command/Apple key + A key or just drag a box around them both) All verticies and edges should turn red.
5. Hold down the alt/option key and the Command/Apple key (at the same time) and click a single vertex (or point) on sphere A. It will turn yellow indicating that it is ready for the boolean opperation.
6. Choose your boolean option, in this case, boolean subtraction. Sphere B will cut a chunk out of Sphere A.
That should do it. Good luck.
