Back sound like you are moving the source files for the textures and the carrara files to different places.
if you are using the default mode for saving textures then the textures are not saved with the carrara file. just the path to the textures. so if you move the carrara files away from the textures -- say to another directory the textures wont load.
make sure to put the texture files in the same directory as the carrara file.
if you want to avoid this hassle choose to save the textures in the carrara files when saving.
