I think we may be referring to 2 different "bevel" tools...
the bevel function you described (on page 188) is understandable, easy to use & very effective....
but actually, it's the bevel function (on page 177) that I have trouble understanding how & why to use, & practical uses of...
I'd like to see or hear some examples of using this function...
