Back Just a side note. After seeing that Digit magazine has lots of free software included with CD's I've gotten the Carrara 1.1 as well as many other things that are either "lite" versions of major software, or older versions, or demo versions.
This month in issue 067 (November)of DIGIT they have a copy of Maya 5 PLE (Personal Learning Edition). I got it and the first thing I noticed is that is seems to have a big learning curve (expected) the second thing I noticed is that it requires a 3-button mouse (not a problem), the third thing I noticed is that it is SO much more intuitive.
I can't say much yet about it's reliability and advanced features but just working with it for a few minutes has firmly convinced me that this is a professional tool. Of course it has a professional price too. $2000 US for the complete version and $7000 US for the everything version.
OK, so I'll continue to use Carrara 2.0 for now. But if you want to see for yourself what Maya has to offer, find a copy of November's Digit 067
