Back I think the Shininess and Highlight channels are what you want. To make it shiny, the numbers in the Shininess channel should be *LOW* (opposite of what you might expect), and the numbers in the Reflection channel should be High. To get a matte effect, exactly the opposite is needed; the numbers in the Shininess channel should be *HIGH* (again, opposite of what you might expect), and the numbers in the Reflection channel should be Low.
