This will work if the top of the gear stick is only slightly curved or flat ...
If your logo is simple, hard-edged shapes, create paths for the edges of the shapes. Perhaps your Photoshop EPS already has the shapes in it. If not, you can create the shapes within Photoshop and then export those paths in Illustrator format compatible with Illustrator 5.5 or less.
Since you already know how to use the Spline Modeler, just create a new spline object and import your logo as a cross section. Once you have that, go to the Texture Room and color the logo the way you want it.
Then go into the Assemble Room and place this logo object onto your gear stick so that it is raised up just a bit above the surface of the stick. That should do it.
