Back Try these steps:
- Open a new scene
- Insert an infinite plane into the scene (so we have something to illuminate)
- Insert (or drag) a sphere in to the scene (this will be our light source)
- Raise the sphere so that it's not sitting directly on the plane.
- Delete the Distance light. (so the AG object will be our only light source)
- Insert (or drag) an Anything Glows "object" into the scene. You wont see anything in the scene but you will see it in your "Instances" tab (it's the one right next to the "Objects" tab and the "Shaders" tab. The Instances tab will now contain; Camera 1, Infinite Plane, Sphere, and Anything Glows.
- Highlight Anything Glows in the "Instances" tab to activate it's properties
- In the "General" properties tab you will see a text field marked "Item". This is where you assign what will be your Anything Glows item. Type "Sphere" into that field. Make sure to spell it with a capital "S". It's case sensitive.
- Just above that you have three choices for color. you can either use the light color (which defaults to white) or you can use the object's color or the object's glow. Both the object glow and color are assigned to the object in the texture room. Using the glow will probably look the best.
- Render. You should see the sphere illuminating the plane.
That ought to do it. While playing with this I just realized that Anything Glows takes advantage of Carrara 3's new ray traced soft shadows just like a regular light. Very cool!!
