Dual Core Procs and Nvidia Gaming Cards

Dual Core Procs and Nvidia Gaming Cards

I had a Quadro FX 3000 card in my machine a week ago and had it taken
away and replaced with a 6800. ;-(  While the 6800 is slower, it's not
so much slower that I would justify anywhere near the difference in
pricing of the 2.

I have a 6800 Go Ultra in my lappy (Dell XPOS gen 2) and it works
superbly.

Subject: Dual Core Procs and Nvidia Gaming Cards

Just wondering a few things about dual core procs....

For a dual "dual core" : does Mental Ray consider them as four
processors or two as far as licensing is concerned?

I know they're "available" but does anyone have any experience with
them with XSI or with any specific workstation manufacturer?

With regard to Nvidia gaming cards....

I have been using the GeForce 6800 Go on my laptop and it's
phenomenal, but I'm curious to learn if any actual post houses are
using the gaming cards....if not, has anybody *really* had any
problems with the gaming cards vs the Quadro cards?

Thanks,

Scott Stewart
