I use the Rrender Xsi setenv script for our farm.
It sets the user path to a shared location inside the Rrender directory,
all render clients are using the same preferences, no individual setup required.
Otherwise you can set the workgroup path for xsi with an additional XSIBatch
parameter -w [workgroup].
Then each client has its own prefs and still uses the global workgroup.
Never tested this way, but it should do the job.
